There's a no-brainer roster move the Green Bay Packers should make this week
I think most Green Bay Packers fans would agree that it's time for the Amari Rodgers experiment to end. Rodgers has been disastrous as a returner this season. He has five fumbles in 10 games in 2022. I think most Green Bay Packers fans would agree that it's time for the Amari Rodgers experiment to end.
Rodgers has been disastrous as a returner this season. He has five fumbles in 10 games in 2022. That's unacceptable. And if he wasn't a former third-round draft pick, he probably wouldn't be on the roster.
Green Bay obviously needs to move on from Rodgers. And they need to replace him with running back Eno Benjamin, who was just recently released by the Arizona Cardinals.
Benjamin averaged 4.3 yards per carry while filling in for James Connor this season. He also returned kicks for the Cardinals.
If the Packers claim Benjamin, they could instantly use him as a returner (he hasn't returned punts this season, but it can't be worse than what we've seen from Rodgers).
Benjamin, a former Arizona State standout, would also give the Packers some much-needed depth at running back. That's especially important with Aaron Jones a bit banged up right now.
The decision to release Benjamin was surprising. The Packers need to take advantage of the Cardinals' mistake. This isn't a move that would generate a bunch of headlines, but it would absolutely make Green Bay a better team.
Update:
Green Bay released Amari Rodgers and Kylin Hill on Tuesday.
