NFL makes a big call on the Packers that will directly influence how their week unfolds
Packers play the Vikings in Minnesota to finish up their regular season schedule.
The Green Bay Packers already have a date, start time, and network for their regular-season finale against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium. With the NFC North title already decided in favor of the Chicago Bears, the Packers will play on Sunday at noon (CT) on CBS.
Flexible scheduling rules
With most of the NFC and AFC playoff spots already decided, it wasn’t that much for the league to put on their primetime slots. However, there are some good games to finish out the season.
Saturday will have the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the NFC South title, deciding the final spot in the NFC playoffs. Later, the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks play for the NFC West title and the first seed in the conference. Then, “Sunday Night Football” will have Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North title.
While the Packers play at noon, they will also be interested in what happens at 3:25 p.m. (CT). The Chicago Bears play the Detroit Lions, and the Philadelphia Eagles face the Washington Commanders. Those games determine the second seed in the NFC, and that team will play the Packers in the wild-card round.
Playoff scenarios
The Packers are already locked in with the seventh seed. That’s why they will probably rest starters against the Vikings in a meaningless game. Six of the seven NFC playoff spots are decided: Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Philadelphia Eagles.
If the Bears beat the Lions, they’ll secure the second seed and face the Packers at Soldier Field. If they lose, though, the Eagles take over the second seed by beating the Commanders.
