The Green Bay Packers enter the 2024 season in a much different mood than a year ago. Now, they know Jordan Love is a really good quarterback and the overall strength of the team is capable of reaching high levels.

It's also an important year because the Packers will open the season against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first ever NFL game in Brazil, on September 6.

In 2024, the NFC North plays the NFC West and the AFC South, so that helps determine which teams the Packers will face. They will also play against the second-placed teams in the NFC South, NFC East, and AFC East.

Biggest Games on the Packers' 2024 Schedule

At Eagles: The game will be special for several reasons. First, it's the season opener. Then, it's also the first NFL game in Brazil and South America. Finally, it's the first game between quarterbacks Jordan Love and Jalen Hurts as starters, a special game from players drafted in 2020.

At and vs Bears: The two games against the Chicago Bears will be especially fun because they will be the first ones of the Caleb Williams era. Justin Fields didn't win any single game against the Packers, so the Bears will try again, but now with a quarterback with a much higher ceiling.
At and vs Lions: Detroit is the current division champion, so it's the ideal way to measure how far this Packers team can go. These game will also have huge playoff implications, and they go a long way to decide who will win the NFC North and who might have to fight for a wild card spot.

Vs. 49ers: San Francisco has been a thorn in the Packers' side over the last decade, so it's always a big game. But it's also relevant because the 49ers are projected to be the strongest team in the NFC, so it's a good barometer for the Packers after a solid performance in the divisional round.

Primetime matchups, bye week, Week 1 opponent and Week 18 opponent

Primetime matchups

At Philadelphia Eagles: It's a week 1 game, and it's in Brazil. The Packers season opener had already been announced to São Paulo.

Vs Miami Dolphins: The Packers will play on Thanksgiving once again, but this time around it'll be the night game. And it's a fun matchup against the explosive Dolphins offense.

At Detroit Lions: The Thursday after Thanksgiving, the Packers and the Lions will play on Thursday again. At least, there won't be another short week.

At Seattle Seahawks: Keeping alive the streak of primetime games, the Packers travel to Seattle in week 15.

Vs New Orleans Saints: Another week, another primetime game. The Packers close the series of four consecutive night games against the Saint on Monday Night Football in week 16.

When's the bye week?

The Packers bye is going to be in week 10.

Who are the Week 1 and Week 18 opponents?

The NFL has already announced that the Packers will face the Eagles in week 1, so that's a little easier. In week 18, Green Bay will host the Chicago Bears once again, just like in 2023.

Strength of Schedule (based off Vegas win totals, not 2023 record)

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis does this cool thing every year where he ranks teams' strength of schedule based off Vegas' projected win totals for the upcoming season. He doesn't base it off the standard last-year's-record model and it makes a lot more sense, because of all the changes teams go through during the offseason.

Packers will have the second easiest schedule among NFC North teamsSharp Football Analysis

At the time of this publication, he hasn't updated it to reflect Vegas' updated, post-draft totals and I'll update this once the information becomes available. Regardless, Sharp has the Packers' SOS as the 19th easiest, as you can see below. It's a middle of the pack strength.

Revenge Games on the Packers' 2024 schedule

The Packers don't add many external pieces. So as the team is not slated to face the Las Vegas Raiders (Josh Jacobs) or the New York Giants (Xavier McKinney), the revenge games are with players or coaches that left.

Aaron Jones (2x): The obvious and biggest answer is Aaron Jones. Hours after being released by the Packers, the running back signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings, which will allow him to face his former team twice in 2024. The Vikings' trend of signing former Packers players is not something new.

Jaguars' free agency additions: Two of the Packers free agents who left Green Bay signed with Jacksonville, defensive back Darnell Savage and tight end Josiah Deguara. In 2024, they will have the chance to meet the team that drafted them.

Joe Barry: The former Packers' defensive coordinator is now a linebackers coach and, guess what, run game coordinator for the Miami Dolphins. This is more relevant for Packers fans than anyone else, but it's still a valuable mention here.

5 must-watch matchups

Jordan Love vs. CJ Stroud: This might be one of the funniest matchups of the season, between two of the most positively surprising quarterbacks of last season. It's not a direct matchup because they won't be on the field at the same time, but it's still an exciting perspective. Sadly, it won't be a primetime game — unless it's flexed.

Stefon Diggs vs. Jaire Alexander: The same game will highlight a great wide receiver/cornerback direct matchup. Alexander and Diggs faced off a couple of times when the receiver was with the Minnesota Vikings, and it's a high-level confrontation.

Jaire Alexander vs. Justin Jefferson: I didn't want to mention Jaire again, but his matchup against Jefferson is always a must-see TV. Over the years, we've been robbed of some of their matchups because of injury, but when they do face off it's been an impressive back and forth.

Eagles o-line vs. Packers front: This will be a big test for the Packers' young defensive front, as the Eagles have a top offensive line, even after Jason Kelce's retirement. Maybe, that's a good way for Green Bay to exploit the matchup, with Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyatt through the middle.

Josh Jacobs vs Fred Warner: Over the years, it's been difficult for the Packers to run against the Niners. First, because they have a powerful defensive line, but also because running outside of the tackles didn't work with Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw's sideline to sideline ability. Now, the Packers will have a stronger and better runner through the middle in Josh Jacobs, and that'll be interesting to watch.
