Update: Tom Pelissero has reported that Aaron Jones will be inactive against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Green Bay Packers will be without their starting running back once again on Monday. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Aaron Jones is not 100% and is going to miss Monday Night Football's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

It's a surprising development, considering Jones played 10 days ago against the Detroit Lions and practiced throughout last week. Jones suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1, versus the Chicago Bears, and missed two games in a row — Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.

The Packers had two other running backs on their 53-man roster, A.J. Dillon and Emanuel Wilson. But with Jones slated to miss the game, they signed Patrick Taylor from the practice squad to the 53-man roster — he had already been elevated for gameday three times, so that wasn't an option anymore.

The running offense has been a big issue for the Packers over the first month of the season. Green Bay is 22nd in rush EPA and 24th in rushing success rate. Besides the offensive line run-blocking issues, the difference in performance between Aaron Jones to the other backs is evident.

Aaron Jones has had a 4.2 average of yards per carry — 59 total yards in 14 carries. The immediate backup, AJ Dillon, averaged 2.7 yards per carry. Patrick Taylor (3.2) and Emanuel Wilson (2.2) haven't been effective in small sample sizes either.

Old issue

Hamstring issues haven't been something new for the Packers this season. And because of them, between Aaron Jones and Christian Watson, the Packers haven't played their ideal group of offensive playmakers for an entire game yet — RB1, WR1, and TE1 (Luke Musgrave) started the game versus the Lions, but Musgrave left the game early with a concussion, while Jones and Watson were still on a pitch count coming from injuries.

Aaron Jones was injured in Week 1, missed two games, and came back for the Week 4 game. Initially, the expectation was positive that he would carry a heavier workload on Monday night. But if the report is that he's not 100%, he shouldn't play much, even if he's active.

Injury report

The Packers have four other questionable players for Monday. According to reports, cornerback Jaire Alexander is expected to play. Fellow cornerback Eric Stokes, though, is not. He is still on the physically unable to perform list and wasn't activated on Monday. Safeties Rudy Ford and Zayne Anderson are uncertain to play.
