Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season is here and there is literally no better way to start it off than to feature the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears as America's Game on FOX Sports.

Can the Packers provide explosive plays without Christian Watson?
Watson is out for this week's game as he deals with a hamstring injury that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has labeled as "week-to-week". Without Watson, the Packers' passing attack is missing its best playmaker on the perimeter.
Who can step up and provide some explosive plays for the offense? The first person that comes to mind is rookie Jayden Reed. He can play both on the inside and the outside and he can be used on jet sweeps, end-arounds, etc. His elite speed and agility should be very useful in space.
The Bears defense added a lot of pieces over the offseason in order of improving one of the NFL's worst units last year – so there'll also be room for big plays. It's going to be interesting to see who takes advantage of both work-in-progress that is the Bears defense and Watson's absence.
Will the Packers run defense stymie the Bears? Or at least play solid?
The Packers run defense was abysmal last year and everyone in the NFL was well aware. The team didn't add any game-changing veterans over the offseason, they added a bunch of youth. And while the defense is uber-talented, it still has a lot to prove. Along with defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
The Bears rushing attack is going to be a formidable test right off the bat. Chicago didn't just upgrade its defense – it upgraded its offensive line and running back room, as well. Add in Justin Fields' dynamic playmaking ability on the ground and it's easy to see why this will be a tough matchup.
It all starts up front. If Devonte Wyatt and T.J. Slaton can be the guys the defense needs them to be, then the run defense should be effective. If not, well, it won't be pretty.
3 players to watch (that aren't Jordan Love)
- K Anders Carlson: He almost made one of the above talking points. Carlson was one of the biggest talking points of the offseason as the rookie was inconsistent all summer. This game is currently a one-point spread: If it comes down to field goals, will Carlson be able to make his kicks?
- CB Jaire Alexander: Alexander is easily one of the NFL's best cornerbacks and he's going to be needed today going up against D.J. Moore. Fields and Moore should turn into one of the NFL's most electric connections in 2023, but Alexander is going to make sure their first big game doesn't come until Week 2, at earliest.
- WR Jayden Reed: With Watson out and Romeo Doubs coming off a hamstring injury, Reed will need to step up in a big way against the Bears. Can the rookie handle a big role in his first-ever NFL game?
