The biggest investment of the Green Bay Packers 2025 offseason was signing left guard Aaron Banks to a four-year, $77 million contract in free agency. On Thursday, the plan could have gone sideways, but the follow-up news is as good as it could have been. The offensive lineman left practice, but head coach Matt LaFleur has a positive update.

"He's got a little back issue,” LaFleur said. "Everything checked out all right. I'd just say it's going to be very day to day."

Without Aaron Banks on the field, former sixth-round tackle Travis Glover moved inside—just like he did in the playoffs last season. Sean Rhyan and Jacob Monk have rotated at center, with Rhyan and last year's first-rounder Jordan Morgan playing at right guard.

Aaron Banks has some level of injury history. Since he took over as the San Francisco 49ers starting guard in 2022, he has missed seven games—including four last season, with a concussion and a knee issue. He's also handled ankle, toe, and hip injuries in the NFL.

Not everything is great

While Aaron Banks will soon be back at practice, there is another reason for concern. Third-round wide receiver Savion Williams won't practice on Friday, and LaFleur decided not to reveal the reason why. Ryan Wood, from USA Today, later reported that it's a concussion.

Williams spent most of the offseason program with a red non-contact jersey, but participated normally on the first two days of training camp.

The two players who are not expected back soon are wide receiver Christian Watson and rookie offensive lineman John Williams, who are still on the active/physically unable to perform list. Edge/off-ball linebacker hybrid Collin Oliver is also on the PUP, while center Elgton Jenkins and rookie running back Amar Johnson are on the active/non-football injury list. They can all be activated at any point throughout training camp.
