The Green Bay Packers drafted 13 players back in April, but there are two rookies in particular that have Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins excited about what they can do in 2023.
"They've got some serious speed, both Jayden [Reed] and Luke [Musgrave]," Jenkins said on Monday's episode of Good Morning Football. "Just being able to see them out there running, getting vertical up the field, and running routes – it really put a smile on my face. I'm ready to see what's in store for those guys [and] I feel like the future is bright for those guys…
"… Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed – I have high expectations for those guys in Year 1, for sure."
Both players are set for key roles in 2023 and if they hit the ground running, then the Packers offense will have two players with specific skillsets that weren't really on the team in past years.
Reed is an electric playmaker that possesses 4.4 speed. He's not just a vertical threat, though. He can be used on end-arounds, jet sweeps, etc. and can stretch the defense horizontally, as well. He's everything Amari Rodgers was supposed to be, except faster – much faster.
Musgrave is a do-it-all tight end that is also a matchup nightmare. His athleticism -along with the overall versatility of the Packers offense- is going to allow Matt LaFleur to open up the playbook and honestly, the Packers will probably be able to disguise their offense even more with both he and Tucker Kraft on the roster.
Overall, it's easy to see why Jenkins is excited and it's safe to say he'll be even more so if the rookies can come through in 2023.
Luke Musgrave can do something no Packers rookie has ever done
This almost seems like a lock for the Packers’ 42nd pick of the 2023 NFL Draft.
