The Green Bay Packers are in the process of adjusting and finalizing the coaching staff for the 2025 season. On offense, the biggest change will be with the quarterbacks coach, since Tom Clements retired.

It's not clear who the new QBs coach will be, and the Packers have not interviewed anyone for the position yet. However, according to ESPN's Packers beat writer Rob Demovsky, Luke Getsy is expected to return to the coaching staff on a full-time basis.

A former WRs coach, QBs coach, and passing game coordinator in Green Bay, he spent three seasons away as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders. He finished the year back with the Packers on a part-time role as a defensive consultant.

"It's good to have him back around," head coach Matt LaFleur said during the season. "He's known as the mayor around here, he has a lot of long-lasting relationships with a lot of people in the building. It's just a positive guy to be around. It's been good."

First, Luke Getsy worked with the Packers under Mike McCarthy between 2014 and 2017, as offensive quality control and wide receivers coach. After a season with Mississippi State as offensive coordinator and WRs coach, he returned to the Packers in 2019 under LaFleur to coach quarterbacks.

His work was so good that he was promoted to passing game coordinator alongside the QB coach position. Over the following two seasons, Aaron Rodgers won the MVP award twice.

That led to opportunities as an offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2022 and 2023 and with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. He was not as successful and ended up being fired midseason in each of the last two years — certainly, it didn't help that his quarterbacks were Justin Fields and Gardner Minshew.

Quarterbacks coach

The Packers have several internal candidates to replace Tom Clements. Besides Getsy, the main candidates are offensive assistant Sean Mannion and assistant quarterbacks coach Connor Lewis.

Based on the Rooney Rule, though, the Packers must interview at least one external minority candidate for the job.
