Are the Green Bay Packers on the verge of making a major roster addition?
Matt Schneidman, who covers the Packers for The Athletic, seems to think that might be the case.
Schneidman recently made a 53-man roster projection for Green Bay. And while he didn't include any new faces, he alluded to the strong possibility that the Packers could sign free agent wide receiver Julio Jones before the start of the season.
It’s never too early for a 53-man roster projection. And no, this one does not include Julio Jones. My first roster projection of training camp might, though!
He seems to think that Jones could be a member of the Packers by the time training camp rolls around later this month.

There's been a lot of smoke around the possibility of Jones to Green Bay. So much smoke, in fact, that I'd almost be surprised if he didn't sign with the Packers at this point.
Jones is coming off a down year with the Tennessee Titans in which he missed seven games and set career lows in targets (48), receptions (31), receiving yards (434), and receiving touchdowns (1).
The former Alabama star, however, is only a few years removed from a season in which he caught 99 passes for 1,394 yards and six touchdowns. While his best days are obviously behind him, I still think Jones is capable of topping 1,000 yards if he can stay healthy.
There's no doubt that Green Bay needs another wide receiver. And Jones, despite his age (33), has the most upside of any wide receiver that's available in free agency.
