Most of the players with injury designations for the Green Bay Packers are inactive to face the Detroit Lions: CB Jaire Alexander, LB De’Vondre Campbell, S Rudy Ford, and WR Dontayvion Wicks, who were listed as questionable, and TE Josiah Deguara, who was doubtful to play. The only questionable player who is active is running back AJ Dillon.
The Packers will be without their top cornerback once again. Jaire Alexander spent the entire week as a limited participant at practice because of a shoulder injury and will miss his third game in a row, his sixth of the season.
Jaire hasn't played since week 9, when the Packers faced the Los Angeles Rams. Earlier in the season, he had missed three games (versus New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, and Denver Broncos) because of a back issue.
Without Jaire, the Packers will go with their same inexperienced group that has played: seventh-round rookie Carrington Valentine, plus Corey Ballentine and Keisean Nixon.
More problems
Former first-team All-Pro off-ball linebacker De'Vondre Campbell is not going to play either. He didn't practice on Monday and Tuesday because of a neck injury that made him leave the Los Angeles Chargers game early on Sunday. He was upgraded to full participant on Wednesday, but didn't have enough time to recover. He will miss his fourth game of the season.
Without him, third-year linebacker Isaiah McDuffie will start alongside Quay Walker at linebacker.
Safety Rudy Ford will miss the third game of the last four. He is inactive after being limited at practice throughout the week because of the biceps injury that made him miss last Sunday's game as well.
Darnell Savage is still on injured reserve, so the Packers will again be forced to play with seventh-round rookie Anthony Johnson Jr. alongside veteran Jonathan Owens at safety.
Offensive issues
As expected, rookie wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks hasn't recovered in time to clear the concussion protocol and is inactive. He is also listed with a knee injury. Tight end Josiah Deguara, with a hip injury, is also inactive.
Jayden Reed handled a chest injury, but he was off the injury report on Wednesday and is good to go, so Wicks is the only absence from the wide receiver group.
Tackle Caleb Jones is the only healthy scratch.
