The Green Bay Packers are going to have their starting quarterback in the big game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Jordan Love is officially active for the NFC North showdown despite a groin injury that made him miss the second half of last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Love's availability was clear since Saturday, when the Packers decided not to elevate practice squad quarterback Sean Clifford for gameday. With that decision, Green Bay will only have Jordan Love and Malik Willis active at the position for the game.
Jaire is out
But not everything is good news for the Packers. As expected, star cornerback Jaire Alexander is officially inactive because of a knee injury he suffered last week against the Jaguars. It's not a long-term issue, but he's not healthy enough to play yet.
Without Jaire, the Packers will have Eric Stokes, Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, and recently elevated Kamal Hadden, a rookie who's part of the Packers' practice squad after being a sixth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in April.
As previously mentioned, Ballentine is active. The depth cornerback was listed as questionable because of an ankle injury, but he's handled it for quite some time and was able to play through it last week as well.
Running back Josh Jacobs suffered an ankle injury as well last week, but the running back had already said he was healthy to go. And he is. Jacobs is officially active to play and is expected to start against the Lions. Based on the rainy conditions in Green Bay, Jacobs' role will be even more important.
A piece of negative news for the Packers is the absence of center Josh Myers. He played last week through a wrist injury, but it got worse this week. He was listed as doubtful, so his absence was already predictable.
Without Myers, first-round rookie Jordan Morgan is expected to make his first NFL start. The offensive line will have Sean Rhyan at right guard, Elgton Jenkins at center, and Jordan entering as the left guard.
Fourth-round rookie safety Evan Williams had already been ruled out on Friday because of a hamstring injury. He has a shot at being back after the bye week, but Green Bay will give him time to recover.

CB Jaire Alexander
