Packers Injury Report: Green Bay deals with concerns on multiple levels at a difficult time
Keisean Nixon, Nate Hobbs, Matthew Golden, and Quay Walker are all questionable to play against the Lions.
The Green Bay Packers released their injury report ahead of the Thanksgiving game versus the Detroit Lions, and it’s certainly a tough watch. Right when the Packers are about to have their most impactful stretch of the regular season, the team is handling multiple injury concerns.
Four players have been ruled out
The Packers have ruled out four players: Defensive tackle Karl Brooks (ankle), edge defender Lukas Van Ness (foot), plus wide receivers Savion Williams (foot) and Jayden Reed (foot/shoulder). Williams had been able to play through it, but he won’t this time around — and that’s why the Packers promoted rookie Will Sheppard from the practice squad, due to his returning ability.
Reed is also close to his return, but he wasn’t activated from the injured reserve just yet. Van Ness had just returned against the Minnesota Vikings, but played a few snaps and felt he wasn’t ready — head coach Matt LaFleur said it wasn’t necessarily a reaggravation.
Four more are questionable
In addition to the players who are out, the Packers listed another four as questionable to play, including cornerbacks Keisean Nixon (neck) and Nate Hobbs (knee). Because of those situations, the Packers elevated defensive back Jaylin Simpson from the PS for gameday.
The other two questionable pieces are first-round rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden (wrist), who missed the past two games with a shoulder injury, and linebacker Quay Walker (neck), who didn’t play on Sunday.
Positive news
The best update is that running back Josh Jacobs (knee) is back. After missing the Vikings game, the Pro Bowler doesn’t have any injury designation against the Lions.
Additionally, safety Javon Bullard (ankle), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (foot/shoulder), right tackle Zach Tom (back), wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (calf), wide receiver Romeo Doubs (wrist), quarterback Jordan Love (left shoulder), and wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) are all off the injury report and good to go.
Other side
The Lions will be without safety Kerby Joseph and four other players against the Packers.
