The Green Bay Packers had good and bad pieces of news ahead of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Minutes after it had been reported that cornerback Jaire Alexander was expected to play, he’s actually inactive because of his shoulder injury. It’s the second game in a row and the fifth of the season that he misses.
With that, the Packers will have Carrington Valentine, Corey Ballentine, Keisean Nixon, and Robert Rochell as active cornerbacks available to play.
Starting safety Rudy Ford is also inactive because of a biceps injury. Ford was listed as doubtful after he hadn't practiced the entire week. His absence was especially likely after the Packers elevated rookie safety Benny Sapp III from the practice squad on Saturday.
Gary is available
The good news for the Packers is that edge defender Rashan Gary is available. He hurt his shoulder during Friday's practice and was listed as questionable, but he’s good to go.
Linebacker Quay Walker, who was questionable with a groin injury that kept him out of the Pittsburgh Steelers game, is also active and back in the lineup.

The Packers have two other defensive backs unavailable to play on Sunday — and for Thanksgiving's game against the Detroit Lions next Thursday. Safety Darnell Savage and cornerback Eric Stokes are still out. They will be eligible to return from IR starting in week 12, when the Packers face the Kansas City Chiefs after a minibye.
