The Green Bay Packers are losing another piece of their offensive coaching staff. Coaching assistant Myles White is leaving the team to be a wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at Syracuse.
A promising young coach, White spent only one season under head coach Matt LaFleur on the Packers, and now goes back to the collegiate level.
Myles White played for the Packers in 2013 and 2014 as a wide receiver. He also played for the New York Giants, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL, and had experiences in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.
Coaching career
White retired and had his first staff experience at SMU as an offensive quality control coach between 2019 and 2020. Then, he was a wide receivers coach at Stephen F. Austin and Miami (OH). Last season was his first in the NFL as a coaching assistant, an entry level position.
Even though White is now going back to college, he got a promotion and will have an important opportunity as a passing game coordinator.
Offensive staff
Myles White is the second member of the offensive coaching staff who's leaving, after quarterbacks coach Tom Clements retired from the NFL. For the QB coach position, LaFleur promoted offensive assistant Sean Mannion. The team also added Luke Getsy as a senior offensive assistant.
Without Mannion and White at those lower-level spots, the Packers still have offensive quality control coach Rob Grosso, but they will certainly need to add more pieces to the staff.
Packers offensive coaching staff under Matt LaFleur:
- Offensive coordinator: Adam Stenavich
- Passing game coordinator: Jason Vrable
- Quarterbacks: Sean Mannion
- Assistant quarterbacks: Connor Lewis
- Running backs: Bem Sirmans
- Wide receivers: Ryan Mahaffey
- Tight ends: John Dunn
- Offensive line: Luke Butkus
- Assistant offensive line: Eddie Gordon
- Senior offensive assistant: Luke Getsy
- Offensive quality control: Rob Grosso
