The latest mock draft from CBS Sports has the Green Bay Packers making a smart selection in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Ryan Wilson, an NFL writer for CBS Sports, has the Packers drafting USC wide receiver Jordan Addison with the No. 15 overall pick.

From CBS Sports:

Addison isn't a big target, but he's one of the most dynamic players in the country who can line up anywhere. Whether it's Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love or the QB behind Door No. 3, the Packers need to break the 20-year drought of not taking a wideout in the first round.

The Packers could certainly use another wide receiver. And selecting Addison in the first round to pair with second-year wide receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs would give Green Bay a nice three-headed monster at wide receiver for the next several years.

That's something the Packers need regardless of who is playing quarterback in Green Bay next season.

The only problem with this selection is something that Wilson noted — the Packers haven't selected a wide receiver in the first round since 2002 when they drafted Javon Walker with the No. 20 overall pick.

That strategy has worked for Green Bay for the last two decades, but Addison is a guy that is worth breaking the streak for — though it would be a bit of a surprise if the Packers actually draft a wide receiver in the first round this year.

Then again, after seeing Addison's elite body control, the Packers might decide they need the former USC star in Green Bay.
