In case you've been living under a rock: 2023 is a huge year for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.

It's officially Love's turn to carry the torch that Aaron Rodgers passed down to him after he was traded to the New York Jets. Sure enough, there are plenty of people wondering whether or not Love is up to the task of replacing the future Hall of Famer.

Replacing Rodgers, in the vein of his overall success, obviously won't be easy. Love does have a succinct advantage, however, in the fact that Matt LaFleur's system is all he's ever known since he was drafted in 2021. That in itself will lend a big hand in Love's on-field success, but at the same time, he does have a lot to prove.

And LaFleur made it clear on Tuesday that he wants to see Love grow in 2023.

"There's a lot of things I'd like to see out of him," LaFleur told reporters on the first day of Packers training camp. "It's more or less, just, you know, the process of becoming better each and every day and the command that he has and certainly you want to give him every opportunity. You can't give him enough reps. So, [it's about] making those incremental improvements and becoming more consistent on a daily basis."

The Packers head coach also sees the potential in Love and it stems from the third-year signal-caller's "complete command" of the offense.

"I'm really excited and he definitely has complete command of our offense," said LaFleur. "There's no doubt about it. He's put the work in and he knows the ins-and-outs and now it's [how he's] going to apply that in a real situation."

There's a lot to like about the Packers offense heading into this season. The unit has the potential to be effective, considering how versatile all the pieces are. Combine that LaFleur's philosophy of running the same plays out of different looks and it's easy to see how it all works. All of the elements should tie together and create a different, yet, similar offense from what we've seen the last few years.

But the point of all this, so far, is the fact that it's all about potential, right now. And while it's not all up to Love, he certainly holds, the key behind unlocking the biggest door.

The Packers aren't going to rush Love into anything, though. They're playing it smart, which honestly, will help Love the most.

"We want him to be excited about every play and throughout the course of this process," said LaFleur. There's going to be some plays where he may not have the comfort level, yet; or conversely, the guys around him might not have the level of comfort. So, it's going to be pretty fluid in regards to what we like [and] what we don't like. I just want all these guys to attack it with great enthusiasm and be open-minded throughout throughout the process and just strive to get better – just those incremental improvements."
