While the world waits for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to emerge from his "darkness retreat" and let folks know his plans for the rest of his career, the veteran quarterback might actually be limiting his options when it comes to the 2023 season.

Rodgers, who is under contract with Green Bay through the 2026 season, is expected to soon let the Packers know if he plans to play in 2023 or retire. If Rodgers retires, he'd be walking away from nearly $60 million in cash next season.

If Rodgers plays in 2023, then the decision has to be made on whether or not Rodgers will return to Green Bay or if he'll be traded.

The New York Jets are among the teams interested in Rodgers. And while we don't know Rodgers' thoughts on the Jets, they would seemingly be a good match for Rodgers due to the presence of former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Hackett and Rodgers developed a close relationship during their time together in Green Bay.

The Jets, however, might not wait around for Rodgers (we don't even know for sure that Rodgers is going to come out of his darkness retreat with a decision).

ESPN NFL insider Jeff Darlington said on Monday that New York is very interested in former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. According to Darlington, the Jets feel like Carr could lead them to a championship.

According to Darlington, the Jets are still interested in Rodgers, but they're worried that they could miss on both quarterbacks.

If the Jets wait on Rodgers, Carr might sign elsewhere.

And again, who knows how or when the Rodgers situation will be resolved (I still expect him to return to Green Bay).

If Rodgers is truly interested in landing with the Jets, then he better make a decision quickly. Because if he waits around much longer, the Jets might not be an option.

I would bet that we learn Rodgers' plans this week, but you never know with that guy. He might need another darkness retreat or two before finally making his long-awaited decision.
