There are few players in the sports world who are able to leave a lasting impact on the game after retirement. Even fewer build legacies strong enough to outlast their time on Earth.

Green Bay Packers legendary defensive lineman Reggie White is one of one. White tallied 13 Pro Bowls and eight All-Pro honors, he was also crowned a Super Bowl champion en route to earning a gold jacket as a Pro Football Hall of Famer. For how dominant he was as a player during his 15-year career, his impact off the field was equally as great, though he wasn't without his own controversies.

ESPN announced they have started production on a 30 for 30 documentary called “The Minister of Defense” featuring NFL Hall of Famer Reggie White.

White's life ended much too shortly as the Packers and Eagles legend passed away at just 43 years old. It's difficult to believe it's been 19 years since he passed in 2004.

However, ESPN is making sure to tell White's tale. On Wednesday, ESPN Films announced that it is in production on its popular 30 for 30 documentary series for a new installment titled "The Minister of Defense."

From ESPN Press Room: "Told in part through never-before-seen footage from a 2004 interview filmed two months before his death, the film chronicles both White’s incredible dominance as one of the best defensive players ever and his spiritual journey as an ordained evangelical minister who questioned his blind faith toward the end of his life. Along with interviews with teammates from both the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, the film features Reggie’s son Jeremy who embarks on a journey to understand his father’s life, which ended tragically short at the age of 43."

ESPN has yet to detail a release date, but it's safe to say this will be another highly anticipated documentary from the folks involved with the 30 for 30 series.
