The Green Bay Packers will be without their primary receiver on Monday night against the New York Giants. On their final injury report of the week, the Packers declared second-year wide receiver Christian Watson as out.

He's been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Because of that, he missed practices the entire week.

"Christian is a big part of our offense. He's hit his groove, so that's obviously not great, because it took him a minute to go within our system this year," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said on Saturday. "It's a shame, he made so many great plays the last few weeks."

Even though Watson's absence is a problem, it may not be a long-term issue. During the week, the wide receiver said the injury is not expected to be as severe as the one which sidelined him for the first three games of the season. Following the Giants game, the Packers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 15 and the Carolina Panthers in week 16.

Christian Watson is coming off the best sequence of his season. He had 12 catches, 165 yards, and three touchdowns in the last two games. For the season, Watson has had 28 receptions, 422 yards, and five touchdowns.

Comfortable with the depth

Without Christian Watson, the Packers are expected to start Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks on Monday. Even though Watson has a unique skill set, coach Matt LaFleur is comfortable and confident about the rest of the room.

"I feel good about the other guys, I think they've really developed," LaFleur added. "We got a lot of guys that we can move into different spots to help pick up that loss. When one guy is not there, it's an opportunity for the rest of the group. And I think the guys are ready for that challenge."

Beyond Doubs, Reed, and Wicks, the Packers have wide receivers Malik Heath and Samori Toure on the 53-man roster, plus Grant DuBose and Bo Melton on the practice squad. If Green Bay wants, they can elevate DuBose or Melton for gameday on Monday.

Injury report

Besides Christian Watson, the Packers will probably be without second-year linebacker Quay Walker. He's handling a shoulder injury and has been listed as doubtful — no Packers player with this designation has played this year.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder), running back Aaron Jones (knee), and safety Darnell Savage (chest) are listed as questionable to play.

Cornerback Eric Stokes is still on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury. However, he practiced all week and is listed as questionable as well. The Packers can activate him on Monday, but they would have to make a corresponding move to open up a roster spot.

Good news

All the other Packers players who were listed on the injury report during the week are good to go. That means TE Josiah Deguara (hip), RB AJ Dillon (groin), EDGE Rashan Gary (shoulder), G Elgton Jenkins (shoulder), CB Keisean Nixon (wrist), S Jonathan Owens (knee), WR Jayden Reed (chest), and DT Devonte Wyatt (elbow) are expected to play on Monday.
