The Green Bay Packers may be without rookie tight end Luke Musgrave for some time. According to head coach Matt LaFleur, Musgrave has a “pretty significant” abdomen injury, suffered during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday.
The injury was so significant that Musgrave had to go to the hospital after the game. Now, LaFleur said, the problem is under control. He won’t play against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, and there’s a chance he goes to the injured reserve — which would make him miss at least three more games.
“Scary situation”, LaFleur mentioned. “He’s going to be a very dynamic player in time. A significant blow for us, offensively”.
Concerns
If the Packers had 16 players on the injury report on Monday, there are 17 now. Rookie WR Jayden Reed was added because of a chest injury. LaFleur said he felt it during the game, but it hadn’t seemed like a problem.
Fellow rookie WR Dontayvion Wicks is still in the concussion protocol, so it’s basically impossible that he will be available in time to face the Lions.
Better pieces of news
Two players were upgraded on the injury report. Wide receiver Christian Watson (shoulder) and cornerback Corey Ballentine (shoulder) were elevated from non-participant on Monday to full participant on Tuesday.
