Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Thursday that the defense won Wednesday's practice, so, all eyes were on the offense during the team's second training camp practice.
The offense made some nice plays, but, it was the defense that ultimately won the war.
Let's check out the top moments from the Packers' second training camp practice
Defense wins the day…again
As mentioned in the intro, the defense won the day again. The offense made some really nice plays and had a better day than Wednesday, but it was Joe Barry's unit that took home the prize and had the offense doing pushups for the second consecutive day.
Maybe Love and his crew of youngsters can reverse this trend
Injury updates
Rookie wideout Dontayvion Wicks missed practice with a concussion. OL Caleb Jones, LB Tariq Carpenter and S Tarvarius Moore were all cleared for practice after missing the first one with an illness. Rookie WR Grant DuBose is still out with a back injury.
Jayden Reed makes multiple big plays
Reed can be a playmaker in the Packers offense and he showed what he can do on Thursday. It's still early, but there's an awesome video of him slicing through the defense on an end-around and it perfectly encapsulates a) his speed and playmaking ability and b) how this offense can catch defenses off-guard.
Jordan Love throws his first interception of camp
Love had a really good day, but that didn't keep him from tossing his first pick. There will be more of these to come, so it's not a major deal. It's definitely noteworthy, though.
Jaire Alexander continues to ball out
It's the second day in a row the two-time All-Pro cornerback has made plays. There was a scary moment where it looked he got injured, but it turned out to be only cramps.
Alexander is arguably the best player on this team, so it's obviously a great development to see him out there flying around, already. If he can stay healthy, this should be a huge season for him.
Jordan Love has an inconsistent day
Love made all kinds of throws on Thursday and there were moments where his supporting cast didn't help. Overall, it was a day that reportedly saw him go 5-of-13 with two touchdowns and an interception. But, there were drops and other mistakes from those around him. He didn't do very well in red zone drills, which has to improve.
Kinglsey Enagbare gets his chance with the 1s
Justin Hollins ran with the 1s on Wednesday and did so through a lot of OTAs/minicamp, but it was KeKe Enagbare running with the starters on Thursday.
It makes sense if this is the rotation, right now. Enagbare flashed at times in 2022, but still has a long way to go if he wants to continue to play with the 1s. Hollins also showed promise, but both players have to prove they can provide consistent quality snaps.
We'll see how much longer the rotation lasts – or if it continues as camp rolls on.
Luke Musgrave has more struggles
On Wednesday, it was pass pro. Thursday, it was drops. The rookie tight end is off to a slow start, but that's the name of the game when it comes to his position.
Still, drops and improved pass pro are things he can control, so that needs to get fixed.
Top moments from Packers’ first training camp practice
There’s a lot to chew on and it’s only the first practice of Packers training camp.
