Avoiding fights is generally the No. 1 objective of joint practices, but sometimes fights are unavoidable. Especially on the second day of practice.
Thursday's practice between the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots showcased plenty of skirmishes and one even resulted in a Patriots player getting kicked out practice. Much like what happened with Elgton Jenkins last week against D.J. Reader and the Cincinnati Bengals.
All of the fighting apparently left a bad taste in the mouth Patriots veteran defensive back Jabril Peppers, who called the Packers "fake a** tough guys".
Peppers' comment is quite ironic considering it was his teammate that pulled off the equivalent of a suckerpunch by laying out Keshawn Banks. And even then, Banks was still kicked out of practice even though he wasn't the aggressor. Per Banks' own words, he did retaliate by throwing a punch, but it's hard to blame the guy for defending himself against that kind of maneuver.
Peppers didn't play in the Patriots' first preseason game, so it remains to be seen if he plays Saturday night. But if he does, it'll be interesting to see if he feels the same way and it'll be even more interesting to see if he's willing to bark like that in-between the sidelines.
Sean Clifford is Packers’ miracle man in joint practice vs. Patriots
On a slow day, Clifford and Cody Chrest made a big play.
