Prominent ESPN voice delivers emphatic take on Jordan Love that validates Packers’ long standing conviction
Love is just reaching his prime.
When the Green Bay Packers decided to draft Jordan Love back in 2020, there were plenty of reasons to doubt their process — but mainly, Aaron Rodgers was still playing at an extremely high level, the team had just reached the NFC Championship Game, and a short-term approach could have helped them get over the hump.
Six years later, it’s hard to complain about the outcome of that process. Love took over as a starter in 2023 and has improved, including a career year in 2025 in terms of efficiency and individual production for the team.
ESPN NFL analyst Jason Reid thinks the 2026 season will be the cherry on top.
Bold prediction puts Jordan Love as NFL’s MVP next season
ESPN had an article with some predictions for 2026, and Reid thinks Jordan Love can be the MVP.
“Next season will be Love’s fourth directing Matt LaFleur’s offense. Love dazzled with his arm talent in his first three and proved the Packers right in choosing to make him the foundation of their future. Love will take things to a new level and win MVP.” — Jason Reid.
Jordan Love was already fantastic in 2025. He was second in adjusted EPA/play, seventh in success rate, third in completion percentage over expectation, third in PFF passing grade, sixth in big-time throw rate, and the 12th-best in turnover-worthy play rate.
Not only was Jordan Love extremely productive, he also took care of the football — which is a common, and generally misguided, criticism of his game.
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the playoffs, but Love was individually impressive in the postseason as well. He led NFL quarterbacks in the playoffs in adjusted EPA/play and was second in completion percentage over expectation.
Ultimately, people base their opinions on wins and collective results, but you can’t blame Jordan Love about what happened to the Packers down the stretch this past season. If he can keep his level or improve it just a little bit with more help elsewhere, especially from the offensive line, the Packers might be in line for a great season in 2026.
