Rookie's hilarious story takes Packers-Bears rivalry to another level

There's nothing like rivals in sports. Every story needs a good guy and a bad guy, so to speak, and sports are filled with storylines that create these characters by themselves.
The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are one of these rivalries. And even though it's a well-known feud, it's easy to underestimate just how much passionate hate there is between the two fanbases.
Packers rookie Jayden Reed, a native of Naperville, Illinois, was recently thrust into full-context mode thanks to the words and actions of a preteen Bears fan.
"Funny story, I was home working out right before I came here [Green Bay] the day before. A kid noticed me, [he was] probably like, around 12 years old," Reed told reporters Friday. "And he saw me and he was like, 'Hey, yeah, you play for the Packers.' And he was just basically talking a lot of trash – talking about the Bears are going to kill us this year and everything. I was like, I'm not gonna say too much – we're just going to wait until the game gets here.
"…Just being home and experiencing how real the rivalry is and everything. I really never understood it growing up. So, just being in it now – I can see how it works."
Reed grew up a Bears fan, but there was never much Packers hate. In fact, he looked up to two of the best players to ever wear a Packers uniform.
"I grew up a Bears fan for sure," said Reed. "I was never like, a Packers hater. I always loved Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. I always looked up to him and watched his game and everything. So, I've never been a hater."
Both teams are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in terms of all-time wins. The Packers actually just passed the Bears for the top spot in 2022, which only throws more gas on the ever-burning fire.
And now, we've got kids talking trash to grown men who actually play for the opposing team. I can just picture the kid riding a bike and stopping to talk his smack or walking out of a gas station, Slim Jim and Red Bull in hand, and delivering an all-time message to Reed.
This is why football is one of the greatest gifts, ever.
