The Green Bay Packers has never been on Hard Knocks, but that will end soon. The NFL adjusted the rules to incentivize (and sometimes force) participation, and now it's easier to see the Packers on it.

There are two yearly editions of the show. The first one is a classic that happens during training camp for a specific team. The second one will feature an entire division throughout the regular season.

And unlike it used to be, a playoff appearance in the previous season is not a criteria that allows a team to nix the participation on the show anymore.

For the in-season edition, there will be a rotation. So every franchise will be a part of it every eight years. That secures the Packers are eventually going to be on the show. Based on how competitive and entertaining the NFC North has been over the past few seasons, it won't be a surprise if it gets picked soon.

Hard Knocks is a reality sports documentary television series produced by NFL Films for HBO. It has been televised since 2001, but the Packers have never been a part of it.

Previously, teams could decline participation if they had been in the playoffs in any of the previous two years or had a new head coach. The Packers could only have been forced in 2007, but the Kansas City Chiefs was selected. Green Bay did lose the postseason in consecutive years in 2017 and 2018, but fired Mike McCarthy and replaced him with Matt LaFleur in 2019.

It will be fun to eventually watch the Packers and how they operate during the season. Even better, there won't be any type of competitive disadvantage inside the division if all four teams are participating at the same time.

Especially for fans of a team known for being so private, this will be a unique opportunity to get up close with the players, coaches, and the front office.
