Late last week I mentioned that the Green Bay Packers could be the perfect landing spot for Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker.
Parker is seemingly the "odd man out" in Miami after the Dolphins acquired wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs last week.
And the Packers are in need of a wide receiver after trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and losing Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency to the Chiefs.
Parker is a solid all-around wide receiver who has good hands and an adequate field-stretching speed. He just hasn't been in great situations with the Dolphins.
Miami and Green Bay seem like logical trade partners.
A trade, however, isn't impending.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said on Monday at the NFL owners meetings in Florida that while Miami is listening to offers on Parker, the former first-round draft pick is expected to remain in South Beach.
This likely indicates two things:
- Green Bay isn't willing to give up a lot in a deal for Parker.
- Miami thinks they'll need Parker for depth in the event of an injury to one of their starting wide receivers.
We've seen so much player movement via trade this offseason that we often forget how difficult it can be for a trade to come together.
The Packers could still throw out an offer that Miami likes. But for now, it looks like Green Bay will need to look elsewhere this offseason for wide receiver help.
