The Houston Texans are quickly becoming the most electrifying team in the National Football League with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud leading the way.

After earning a massive win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10, the Texans continued to prove they can hang with (and beat) any team they line up against.

The Texans are now 5-4 on the season and creeping up on the Jacksonville Jaguars for first place in the AFC South. The Texans have now capped off two straight firework shows led by their rookie quarterback who keeps gaining national attention.

After yet another huge performance, Stroud is the clear and obvious front-runner to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award after the first 10 weeks. Quite frankly, at this point, it'll be shocking to even see someone challenge him for the award.

Stroud has thrown 15 touchdown passes and just 2 interceptions in 2023. The Texans rookie leads the NFL with 291.8 passing yards per game, which would set a rookie record if it continues. In fact, Stroud is currently on pace to shatter multiple rookie records by the time the season comes to a close.

Only three quarterbacks have taken home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in the past 10 seasons (Justin Herbert in 2020, Kyler Murray in 2019, and Dak Prescott in 2016). The Texans have never had a player win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Does C.J. Stroud have a shot at winning MVP?

The MVP race is quickly starting to heat up and Stroud's name definitely deserves to be mentioned in the conversation. On Monday's edition of "Get Up" on ESPN, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky stated he believes the Texans rookie should be leading the race to be named the league's Most Valuable Player.

The argument is truly warranted given the level of play the second overall pick has shown in his first nine games in the NFL. With his win over the Bengals, Stroud now has the second-most wins in the league against winning teams trailing Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The last time a rookie was named the league MVP was in 1957 when Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown led the league with 942 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. Along with never having an Offensive Rookie of the Year, the Texans have also never had a player win the MVP award.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Stroud has the sixth best odds to win the MVP award entering into the final game of Week 10. Here's the current odds/rankings.

KC Patrick Mahomes: +270
PHI Jalen Hurts: +300
MIA Tua Tagovailoa: +600
BAL Lamar Jackson: +600
BUF Josh Allen: +1400
HOU C.J. Stroud: +2000

Clearly, the AFC is stacked with elite quarterback play and Stroud will have to continue to out-produce these stars if he wants to make a run at the MVP award. If the rookie can keep putting up huge numbers each week, his chances will continue to get better.
