The Houston Texans are in the playoffs -and division champs- for the first time since 2019 and the play of rookie sensation, C.J. Stroud, is just about every bit of why the team is in the position it's in.
Stroud has managed to do what he's done without his top weapons at various times, as well, which makes his season all the more impressive. We all know rookie wideout, Tank Dell, is done for the season after fracturing his fibula in Week 13. Tight end Dalton Schultz missed two games earlier in the year and receivers Noah Brown and Robert Woods have missed seven and three games, respectively.
Those last two names were still up-in-the-air when it came to playing on Saturday. They were both listed as questionable on the Texans' final injury report. Brown managed to turn in a limited practice on Thursday after sitting out Tuesday and Wednesday, while Woods turned in limited sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, both players will play -barring setbacks, of course- against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. The news is obviously a huge boost for Stroud and the offense.
Stroud and co. need all the help they can get against a tough Browns defense
The matchup that is Stroud against an elite Browns defense will be so much fun to watch. Especially when considering it's a do-or-die game with everything on the line.
The Browns secondary is a big reason for their defensive success. Cornerback Denzel Ward is one of the best in the game and then Martin Emerson and Greg Newsome are two of the better, upcoming corners. In all, the trio could be the best in the league.
So, it's easy to see why the return of Woods and Brown is so big. Especially with how Nico Collins played in the season finale against the Indianapolis Colts. Now, Stroud has a plethora of targets -solid targets, at that- to throw to, which should make things easier, somewhat, at the end of the day.
Multiple other questionable Texans expect to play, as well
Wilson also says the five other Texans that were listed as questionable: DL Will Anderson Jr., DL Jonathan Greenard, DL Sheldon Ranklins, DL Maelik Collins, and FB Andrew Beck, are all expected to play, as well.
So, outside of the players who were ruled out on Thursday and before then, it looks like all hands are on deck for what should be a thrilling game.
