Houston Texans rookie star C.J. Stroud finally got some good news Sunday morning.
The future offensive rookie of the year is finally trending in the right direction after suffering a concussion against the New York Jets, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Stroud's concussion came on a late hit against the Jets when the referees missed a late hit on the quarterback. His head slammed against the turf, and he has been in concussion protocol since.
What makes the hit worse is that it came with six minutes left in the game that was already decided.
Here is another look at the play that took Stroud out in recent weeks:
The good news for Stroud is that he "could be ready" to play in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans don't have much to play for. They are already eliminated from the playoff but could play spoiler for the Texans, who are still in the hunt.
For Week 16, the Texans have to take on the Cleveland Browns without the starting quarterback.
Cleveland's defense presents an interesting challenge. However, it has been proven that teams can run on the Browns. That will be the most likely plan of attack for Houston, who needs a win to stay in the AFC hunt.
If Houston can stay alive for one more week, Stroud may just walk through the door and save the season.
