2023 has easily been the year of C.J. Stroud, DeMeco Ryans, and the Houston Texans.

The smokeshow that is the football team from Southeast Texas has taken the NFL world by storm over the last couple of months and it just made its loudest statement, yet, via Saturday night's 45-14 smashing of the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns, who opened up as 2-point favorites over the hometown Texans. The Browns, who put together a very impressive season, themselves, with an 11-6 record and playoff appearance despite starting five different quarterbacks throughout the year.

It didn't matter in Houston, however. The Texans were the better team, for the vast majority of the night, and the final result has to hand Ryans the Coach of the Year award on a silver platter.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was Ryans' main competition for COTY

And for good reason. Honestly, it was an extremely tough call that could've gone either way.

Before Saturday night, that is.

What Stefanski did this year is remarkable and very impressive, but the rarity of what Ryans has done is right up there, if not higher on the totem pole.

But, to come out and just dismantle Stefanski is the clear tiebreaker, here. And it wasn't just the Texans beating the Browns – it was Ryans' defense laying waste to Stefanski's offense.

Both coaches call the plays on their respective side of the ball. Saturday night was Ryans vs. Stefanski and the former obliterated the latter

Hardly anything is easy in the NFL and that was certainly the case between these two head coaches before Super Wild Card Weekend, but there's only one obvious way to go, from here, and it'll be an egregious error if Ryans doesn't end up with the hardware when it's all said and done.
