The Houston Texans will likely need to add another wideout either through free agency or the NFL draft. Sure, Nico Collins and Tank Dell are great, and you could say Collins would be a No. 1 wide receiver on a handful of teams, and Dell would be the No. 1 option on a few as well.

The Texans are pretty much set in terms of their top two guys; it's just about building out the rest of the wide receiver corps they have to fill out. Whether in free agency or in the NFL draft, they know what they need and want.

This weekend, the Texans coaching staff, front office, and every team are at the NFL Combine, and head coach DeMeco Ryans described what his team wants in a wide receiver for their team.

"We are looking for guys who are separators," Ryans told reports at the podium on Tuesday. "We are looking for guys who get open, especially when it shows up on third down. It's about third down and being able to convert, and the way you do that is having guys that are savvy enough to get open."

Several guys, whether in the draft or free agency, fit what the Texans want to have in their wide receiver room. Last season, Dell did a bit of the third down stuff as a rookie, along with Collins, but they still needed a guy to be there when it counts most – on third down.

The Texans are in need of a guy who can play in the slot. They don't really need an X receiver. So, with what they need, here are some guys that would fit in free agency:

  • Marquise Brown
  • Darnell Mooney
  • Curtis Samuel
  • K.J. Osborn

College:

  • Malachi Corley
  • Ladd McConkey
  • Roman Wilson
  • Jamari Thrash

All of those guys are players that likely wouldn't be too expensive, they can stretch the field from the slot position, they are fast, and they create separation. That's exactly what the Texans need.
