The 2023 NFL schedule has been released, and there a few interesting notes for the Houston Texans.

The Texans will start out on the road in Baltimore, which is a tough Week 1 draw. That Week 1 tilt will be followed up with back-to-back division matchups and then a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.

However, some fans might feel a little disrespected after seeing the Texans' schedule.

In case you missed it, here is the Texans' full schedule:

  • Week 1: @ Baltimore Ravens (Sunday, Sep. 10, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 2: vs. Indianapolis Colts (Sunday, Sep. 17, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 3: @ Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday, Sep. 24, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 4: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (Sunday, Oct. 1, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 5: @ Atlanta Falcons (Sunday, Oct. 8, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 6: vs. New Orleans Saints (Sunday, Oct. 15, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 7: BYE
  • Week 8: @ Carolina Panthers (Sunday, Oct. 29, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 9: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday, Nov. 5, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 10: @ Cincinnati Bengals (Sunday, Nov. 12, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 11: vs. Arizona Cardinals (Sunday, Nov. 19, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 12: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday, Nov. 26, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 13: vs. Denver Broncos (Sunday, Dec. 3, 3:05 PM CST)
  • Week 14: @ New York Jets (Sunday, Dec. 10, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 15: @ Tennessee Titans (Sunday, Dec. 17, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 16: vs. Cleveland Browns (Sunday, Dec. 24, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 17: vs. Tennessee Titans (Sunday, Dec. 31, 12:00 PM CST)
  • Week 18: @ Indianapolis Colts (TBD)

Instantly, there is one noticeable takeaway: The Texans will NOT have a primetime game in 2023.

Due to rule changes for the 2023 season, not every team is required to have a primetime game anymore. Some teams will have multiple Thursday games, and some will have none. The Texans are, unfortunately, in the latter category.

It was probably foolish to expect a Sunday Night Football game this season, but a Monday nighter could have made sense. In particular the Week 8 game against the Panthers, as the top two picks from the 2023 NFL Draft face off.

Instead, the team is stuck with at least 15 Sunday games at noon. If the team can impress in 2023, primetime games will be aplenty in 2024.
