Can CJ Stroud get his first division win in Week 3?

The easiest way to earn respect in the NFL is by smacking someone in the mouth at their home field. Texans quarterback CJ Stroud shouldn’t be looking to just earn his first career win on Sunday, he should also be looking to make a statement to the rest of the AFC South.

There's no better way to do that except by walking into Jacksonville and beating the reigning AFC South Champs on Sunday. It won't come easy, and the odds are definitely stacked in the Jaguars favor this weekend. But, that could just make an upset that much more impactful.

The Texans had a whopping 12 players on the final injury report following Friday's practice. It's been confirmed that the team will be without their best defensive player in cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., who has since been placed on the injured reserve.

Houston has also already ruled out left tackle Laremy Tunsil, linebacker Denzel Perryman, safety Jalen Pitre, and nickel cornerback Tavierre Thomas. For some good news, Houston's beat up offensive line will be more intact in Week 3 with tackle George Fant expected to return up-front.

Stroud had a chance to get his first divisional win of his career last week against the Indianapolis Colts but couldn't recover from the fast start by the Colts' offense. On Sunday, the Texans will have to strike fast if they want to catch the Jaguars by surprise.

3 Other players to keep an eye on:

WR Nico Collins- Collins strong start to the season has been a pleasant surprise working with his rookie QB. The two have combined for 226 yards and a touchdown in the first two weeks. Collins has never posted three straight games with 80+ yards.

CB Shaquill Griffin- With Stingley Jr. out, Griffin gets the nod as the team's top cornerback on Sunday. The former Jaguar gets to face off against his previous team while being tasked with covering their new top wide receiver, Calvin Ridley.

S Jimmy Ward- Ward is expected to play on Sunday after being a full participant in the last two days of practice this week. The safety will be looking to make Texans debut this weekend after missing the previous two weeks of the season with a hip injury.
