The Houston Texans have put together a monster roster, one that can compete for a Super Bowl now, with Stefon Diggs coming in as the best wide receiver three ever. This is by far the most stacked roster the Texans have ever had, yet there is still a large thought looming over many Texans fans' heads.
This team and franchise have been a laughing stock for a large part of their existence. They have never made it to a Super Bowl, let alone an AFC Championship. But, now they are in prime position to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs, an NFL dynasty.
The sad thing about this all, even on a great day that saw the Texans trade for Stefon Diggs, is what pops into your head when you read Texans legends like J.J. Watt's reaction to the trade.
The last two off-seasons for the Texans have completely transformed the franchise. DeMeco Ryans, CJ Stroud, Will Anderson, Danielle Hunter, Stefon Diggs, etc. Houston is a top-tier destination.
This makes you really realize that the Texans have two Hall of Famers (really one with Andre Johnson, but Watt will be a first ballot), and could never put together a roster like this one for those two guys. Watt is one of the greatest defensive players of all time, despite what anyone thinks about him. And, Johnson is one of the greatest wide receivers of all time who never played with a great quarterback (sorry, Matt Schaub).
Imagine those two guys on this team. Now, they wouldn't really need either of them because of the players at their current positions right now, but they would have one of the greatest rosters of all time. Watt and Johnson never really experienced the success they deserved while in Houston, and, it's sad. However, it's good to see how far the Texans have come.
Houston Texans legend J.J. Watt gives Danielle Hunter the ultimate compliment
The Texans have a legend.
