The Houston Texans added nine rookies to the roster during the 2023 NFL Draft. With the draft now in the books, the Texans are still working on improving the roster by scouring the undrafted free agent market.

Going undrafted does not necessarily mean an NFL career is impossible. Several notable players including Kurt Warner, Jason Peters, and Antonio Gates started their careers after going undrafted.

The Texans are certainly hoping that one of their signees will end up being a success story as well. Currently, the team has reached deals with eight undrafted players.

Be sure to check back here often as more deals will likely be announced in the coming days.

Houston Texans 2023 undrafted free agents:

Valladay is an interesting signing. The Texans did not draft a running back in 2023, but they did sign Devin Singletary in free agency. With Rex Burkhead no longer on the roster, there does seem to be room for another back on the team. Valladay has had 1,000+ yard seasons for multiple teams, doing so for Wyoming and Arizona State.

Wayne is a red-zone threat similar to Xavier Hutchinson, the Texans' sixth-rounder. Matthews is a speedy slot guy who could do enough to earn at least a practice squad spot.

Doyle will add real competition for Cameron Johnston at the punter position. The former Tennessee and Memphis punter finished ninth in the nation in average punt yards in 2022.

Deatherage and Beach could earn a spot on the roster as depth pieces on the line. Currently the Texans do not have a ton of depth at the tackle position, and none was added during the draft.

Darius Joiner is interesting as a special-teamer. The former Blue Devil could battle seventh-rounder Brandon Hill for a backup safety spot.
