The Texans' wide receiver room will look quite different in 2023.
The team has signed Robert Woods, Noah Brown, and Steven Sims, and will also get John Metchie III, who is now cancer-free. Nico Collins and Amari Rodgers are still on the roster as well.
On Wednesday, one possible option to be brought back was taken off the table. Chris Moore, who was second on the team in receiving in 2022, has signed with the division-rival Tennessee Titans.
Moore joins Brandin Cooks, Phillip Dorsett, and Jordan Akins as pass-catchers from 2022 who have signed elsewhere.
As mentioned in the above tweet, 2022 was a career year for Moore. The receiver caught 48 passes for 548 yards and two touchdowns. This performance more than doubled Moore's previous career highs in catches and yards.
While Moore was a crucial piece of the offense in 2022, the receiver seemed redundant in the current group. Noah Brown, Nico Collins, and Robert Woods figure to be the starting receivers in 2023, with Metchie being an additional factor. It is also thought that the team could continue to add at WR in the draft.
In Moore, the Titans could be getting an immediate contributor in the slot. The Titans are perhaps the most WR-needy team in the league, with Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Kyle Phillips currently projected to start. Moore should add depth and experience to a young group.
Look for the Texans to continue to add at receiver in the draft. Brown, Woods, and Sims are solid players, but the team could still use a clear number-one receiver.
