The NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, and the rumor mill is hotter than ever.
While Texans fans have been pondering which quarterback they will end up with, the latest rumors imply that they might not end up with one at all.
On Monday, two reputable NFL analysts floated this idea of the Houston Texans not selecting a QB at No. 2.
Lance Zierlien is an NFL draft analyst for NFL.com and was a long-time radio host in Houston.
A Texans fan mentioned Zierlien in a Twitter thread on Monday, seeking reassurance that the Texans will draft a QB at No. 2. Instead, Zierlien confirmed the opposite, stating that the Texans "are trying to get out of that pick."
Zierlein is connected in Houston, so I doubt he would say this without assurance from a reliable source.
Zierlein wasn't the only analyst to toss the idea of Houston not going for a QB out on Monday.
ESPN's Adam Schefter joined NFL Live to discuss the latest draft rumors. During the interview, Schefter placed a bet with fellow analyst Dan Orlovsky that two QBs would not be selected before the No. 4 pick.
Schefter is considered one of the most reliable analysts in the business, so this take raised some eyebrows. For months, we have assumed that Bryce Young and CJ Stroud would be the first two picks, in some order.
Lately, there had even been talk about perhaps the Tennessee Titans trading up to No. 3 to select Anthony Richardson. This would mean the first three picks of the draft would be QBs.
However, as we approach Draft Day, the momentum seems to be shifting toward the Texans NOT selecting a QB at No. 2.
Perhaps the Texans are planning to trade back and still get a QB? That would be a risky proposition, as teams would only trade up to get a QB in the first place.
With two prominent analysts now believing the Texans will not go QB at No. 2, we could be in for one of the more wild drafts in recent memory.
