Another day, another mock draft.

This time, we are taking a look at Peter Schrager's Mock Draft 1.0. Schrager is a host of Good Morning Football on NFL Network and is an analyst for Fox Sports. Schrager published his first mock draft of the offseason on Tuesday, and it has several interesting tidbits included.

For example, Schrager believes that the Texans will trade back from the No. 2 pick.
The interesting part about this is who Schrager has the Texans trading with.

Schrager has the Texans trading with the division-rival Indianapolis Colts. In this scenario, the Colts move up to No. 2 in order to draft Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud. The Texans receive the No. 4 pick and star defensive lineman DeForest Buckner from the Colts.

After receiving Buckner, the Texans use the No. 4 pick on another defensive lineman in Tyree Wilson. This trade moves the Texans' biggest weakness into an immediate strength with two elite-level talents. Schrager has a notable reason for including Buckner in this deal, by the way.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and Buckner were with the San Francisco 49ers together from 2016-2019. Buckner had the best sack numbers of his career under Ryans in 2018, finishing that season with 12 sacks and 67 total tackles. Additionally, the Texans had the worst run defense in the league a year ago, further adding to the appeal of DeFo.

But would a trade like this really happen between divisional rivals? I have a hard time believing that the Texans would pass on Stroud and let the Colts take him. Improving your run defense is not worth giving your rival a potential franchise QB.

Also, Schrager has the Texans using the No. 12 pick on Kentucky QB Will Levis. Schrager had the following to say regarding the Texans' moves:

If Houston can scoop up a veteran like DeForest Buckner (in the prospective trade spelled out above) or a future pick by trading out of No. 2, snag Tyree Wilson or Will Anderson and get its QB of the future within the top 12 overall picks? That'd be a good night for GM Nick Caserio and the new coaching staff. Houston is a curious case in this draft, for sure, and after Indianapolis, I don't have a perfect spot for a Levis. But if you're the Texans and you don't go QB at 2, the Kentucky product has to be a real consideration at 12.

This scenario is high risk and high reward, and I'm not sure that Nick Caserio would want to take the chance. It seems much safer to just stay at No. 2. If the team stays at No. 2, they potentially have a new franchise QB, and they prevent their bitter rivals from getting one as well.

Caserio will surely weigh all options. We have just over a week before we get to see what happens.
