The Texans have had some bad luck with the tight end position this summer.

Prized offseason addition Dalton Schultz is a little banged up after a collision with Jimmie Ward. Brevin Jordan has a strained hamstring. Teagan Quitoriano is on the PUP list after pulling a quad.

With injuries piling up, the team recently brought in some veteran depth at the position.

Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the team has reached an agreement with Nick Vannett. The deal comes after Vannett and James O'Shaughnessy were brought in for a workout.

The 6'6", 257-pound Vannett has been somewhat of a journeyman in his career. His first three years, and most productive seasons, were spent with the Seahawks from 2016-2018. Over parts of four seasons in Seattle, the tight end collected 48 catches for 463 yards and four TDs.

Vannett has since spent time with the Broncos, Steelers, Giants, and Saints.

Vannett joins a TE room that currently features Eric Tomlinson, Andrew Beck, Mason Schreck, and Jordan Murray as healthy options.

Like his new QB CJ Stroud, Vannett is a former Ohio State Buckeye. Having a solid receiving TE that has played with multiple different QBs could end up being a valuable asset for Stroud.

Quitoriano and Jordan were both competing for the backup TE job, but their injuries will now give a chance to some other guys.
