The Texans continue to add veteran talent to the roster.

On Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the team has reached an agreement with linebacker Denzel Perryman.

Per Rapoport, the deal will be for one year.

Perryman was elected to the Pro Bowl in 2021 after collecting 154 tackles, five tackles for loss, and three passes defended.

In 2022, Perryman finished with 83 tackles and 14 tackles for loss in his second season with the Raiders.

The veteran also had a successful career in college for the Miami Hurricanes. Perryman earned First-team All-ACC honors in 2013 and 2014 and was a Third-team All-American in 2014 as well.

This is the second notable linebacker addition in as many days for Houston, as Cory Littleton was brought in on Tuesday. Christian Harris and Cory Littleton are the presumed starters on the outside, while either Perryman or Kirksey should man the middle.

The addition of Perryman could spell the end for Kirksey. The linebacker is entering a contract year, and the team can release Kirksey and incur only $1M in dead money.

Look for the linebacker position to be addressed some more in the draft. Perryman and Littleton will help, but the team needs to get young talent here.

Perryman and Littleton are just two of a plethora of low-risk, high-reward moves by Houston. The team has brought in Jimmie Ward, Sheldon Rankins, Hassan Ridgeway, and Chase Winovich as well to help improve the defense.

With Demeco Ryans in charge, it is clear that the team will be prioritizing defense.
