The Houston Texans have had a wild night. After many rumors about the Texans selecting a defensive player, the team decided to go for a new franchise QB in Stroud.

Stroud was mocked as going anywhere between pick two and pick 20. Luckily for the young signal-caller, the Texans were not willing to wait and see if he would fall to the bottom of that range.

In response to being selected, Stroud was thrilled and could hardly contain his emotions.

"It's a blessing, a dream come true," said Stroud. "We have a great relationship already with Jerrod Johnson. I can definitely be effective. I want to be great, accurate and deliver the ball down the field."

Stroud referenced his relationship with Jerrod Johnson, who is in his first season as the QB coach in Houston. The fact that Stroud feels comfortable with his new coach is a great sign for Houston.

Stroud will have much pressure on his shoulders almost immediately. The team has been lacking a franchise QB since Deshaun Watson, and is desperately seeking an identity. Stroud possesses the arm strength and accuracy to be a great pro-style signal-caller in this league.

The Texans will now likely look to add more weapons for their new QB on Friday and Saturday.
