The Houston Texans are seen by many as one of the winners of the 2023 NFL Draft. After landing a starting quarterback and an elite pass rusher, it's not hard to see why.

CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. will both start immediately and should give the Texans two cornerstones to build around. There was much chatter about the team going off-script and not selecting a QB, but the allure of Stroud proved too much.

One national media member not only thinks Stroud was the right pick but one of the best picks in the entire draft.

Matt Miller of ESPN recently ranked the 100 best draft picks from the 2023 draft.

Miller has the Texans picking Stroud at No. 2 as the second-best pick made in the entire draft. Notably, Stroud is the highest rank of any QB selection and is five spots ahead of No. 1 pick Bryce Young.

Regarding Stroud, Miller said this:

Despite all the pre-draft talk that Houston wouldn't draft a quarterback, it landed a good one at No. 2 overall. Stroud is an immediate plug-and-play QB with pinpoint accuracy from the pocket and will be protected by a very good offensive line. This pick gets high praise because the Texans stayed true to the board and had the courage to go all-in on Stroud to address a position of need.

Stroud fills an immediate need at the most important position in the game, so it's hard to say anything negative about the selection. Miller points to Stroud's "pinpoint accuracy," and plug-and-play ability as contributing factors to this high rating.

Miller didn't exactly hate the other Texans' first-round pick either. The Anderson selection is rated as the eighth-best selection by Miller. If the two young stars can live up to their billing, the Texans will be in good hands for years to come.
