The Houston Texans are already having to sit and think about their loss to the New York Jets during Thursday Night Football, and now the NFL is making the week even worse for one player.
Texans fullback Troy Hairston was fined for a blindside block that occurred during the opening kickoff against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
NFL fines Troy Hairston for an illegal act in Week 8
Hairston is a member of the Texans practice squad who was elevated to the active roster for the team's Week 8 win over the Colts. It was his second game of the season suiting up for the team, his first coming in their Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
He was fined $5,130.00 for a blindside block that the league ruled as "unnecessary roughness." It is heartbreaking to see a practice squad player fined when they don't often get this type of game check in the regular season. But in this case, especially, it seems like a bit of a reach by the league. The play wasn't even flagged during the game, and when you watch the playback, it really seems like a good no-call by the officials.
