The Houston Texans are on a roll. The team has won 3 of their last 4 games and now sit at 5-4, firmly in the playoff race.
However, one of the team's veteran leaders may have to miss the next few games. Per reports, veteran linebacker Denzel Perryman has recieved a three-game suspension for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players."
Perryman was fined $66,666 for unnecessary roughness in Week 2. The veteran was again flagged for unnecessary roughness in Week 10 after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyon cited the hit on Chase in his letter to Perryman.
With 4:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, you were involved in a play that the league considers a serious violation of the playing rules. You lowered your head and delivered a forcible blow to the shoulder and then the head/neck area of the receiver. You had unobstructed path to your opponent and the illegal contact could have been avoided.
The hit on Sunday was the sixth time Perryman has been hit with a personal foul of said type in his career. The veteran can appeal his suspension. If the suspension is upheld, Perryman would not be able to return until Week 14 against the New York Jets.
CJ Stroud is making room in the record books
The Texans rookie has looked phenomenal through two weeks.
