The Texans have done a fabulous job adding talent to the roster this offseason. With former 49ers defensive coordinator now at the helm, the team has a reference for what a successful franchise should be.

Ryans brought longtime 49er Jimmie Ward with him to Houston. 2023 will be the first season for Ward on a team other than the 49ers.

With that in mind, Ward recently spoke about the importance of building a culture in Houston.

Several of the Texans' new additions recently spoke with local media. Ward mentioned that "this (Houston) isn't San Francisco." The veteran defensive back noted the importance of building a culture unique to Houston.

Ward spent nine seasons in San Francisco, playing as both a nickel corner and safety. Even with his age, Ward has played some of his best ball recently. In 2021, the veteran had a career-high 77 tackles and two interceptions.

Ward will be a key part of the new Houston culture. Ryans mentioned that Ward will be a starting safety for the team. Ward spent 2022 as a nickel corner and produced impressive results, but the Texans need more help at safety than corner.

After several years of chaos, it seems that Houston is finally on track to be a stable, successful franchise once again.
