The Houston Texans had one of the best offenses in the league last year, and it may be the best passing game in the league when you look at what they did in the playoffs against the Cleveland Browns. Of course, A large reason was the stud quarterback, C.J. Stroud.

But you can also say that the weapons were just as important. Nico Collins and Tank Dell were impressive, as were Dalton Schultz and others. But what Collins did put the whole league on notice.

Collins was a receiver that everyone knew could be elite; it was just about the right situation, and when he would burst onto the scene that way. But he was elite last year and maybe had a top-five season in 2024. But that was just one year of the few in his career, whereas before, he didn't really do that because of injuries, bad quarterback play, etc.

We weren't sure if the Texans would give him a contract extension because maybe they wanted to see it one more time. But they wanted to check that big item off the grocery list early before it was too late.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Texans have agreed to a three-year contract extension with Nico Collins worth $72.75 million, which includes a $52 million guaranteed.

They are in a great Super Bowl window right now with their young quarterback, C.J. Stroud, playing at a top-five level while still on his rookie deal. With the way he played as a rookie, there is no telling how big his contract will be when it's time for an extension. So, they went ahead and got this out of the way, too.

The Texans are very smart about doing this, and it seems that general manager Nick Caserio has nailed every decision all offseason long. And, Collins deserves every penny of that money.
