The Houston Texans added a ton of talent around C.J. Stroud this offseason to take advantage of the sophomore quarterback being top-five at his position, but still being on his rookie deal.

They went and traded for one of the best wide receivers in the league. They want to take that next step and become Super Bowl contenders, and they can do that with the moves they have made, including getting guys like Joe Mixon, too, who is one of the better running backs in the league.

Stroud, I'm sure has heard all the noise about his newest weapon in Stefon Diggs, and is doing whatever he can to make sure it works out. So much so, he met up with Diggs in France to throw with him, when Diggs was already there, and Stroud was in Morocco.

He did that several times, not just with Diggs, but with all of his receivers, and even some other guys around the league. But the throwing sessions he repeatedly did with his guys this offseason were super important.

“It’s really important," C.J. Stroud said at training camp. "That's where not only do you build just the timing and the chemistry on the field, but also just spending time off the field, getting a feel for one another, personality-wise, and really just having fun with one another. Football is meant to be fun, so that's what we do on those trips. And just really – we know football is the reason we're here, so we get the work done, but also enjoy it.”

Just because you add new talent, doesn't mean the game will immediately transfer over. You have to work and build up that chemistry, and continue to build the chemistry you already had with the other guys. That's the biggest reason these guys get together in the offseason.

You see players like Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs do this, too, and he's the best quarterback in the league and just won a Super Bowl with a terrible receiving corps. Luckily, Stroud had an offseason this year, rather than being a rookie last year. Things could get crazy during the 2024 season.
