Every team in the AFC South, and every team that is competing especially, so everyone but the Tennessee Titans, could use some help on defense. Even the 8-3 Jacksonville Jaguars could use some help up front getting to the passer and stopping the run.
Defensive line depth is never a bad thing, and the Texans need some more of it. Now, with their latest move, they will be adding that. Not only that, but they will be adding a veteran to a young defense.
On Monday, the Texans claimed former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett off of waivers. Barnett was previously a first-round pick and has had 21 sacks in his career. While the numbers haven't been great, he can be a great mentor and even play a role in the run defense.
