Joe Mixon is just too good. The Houston Texans' new running back just had one of those games that make you wonder why the Cincinnati Bengals even traded him away in the first place. It especially makes you wonder why when you realize that he alone has more touchdowns than the Bengals do as a team.
The Texans loved what they saw from Mixon, and the fans did, too. The run game has been one of the worst in the league this season, but not because of Mixon. The offensive line has been inconsistent in all facets of the game. But on Sunday, in their win over the Dallas Cowboys, the line played much better.
In fact, they played so well that they helped Mixon make a bit of history out there. Mixon finished with 20 carries for 109 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns, with two catches for 44 receiving yards to go along with it.
And, he made a list that on;y Hall of Famers are on. Here is what the Texans' PR team tweeted out about Mixon on Sunday:
RB Joe Mixon is the fifth player in NFL history to record at least 90 scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown in seven of his first eight games of a season, joining Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown (1996) and O.J. Simpson (1975) as well as Priest Holmes (2002) and LeSean McCoy (2011).
Those are some of the best running backs to ever play, so for Mixon to have his name there means something. Mixon is special, and he's having one special year. In fact, in this game, he had his longest rush TD ever, a 45-yarder, which is very hard to believe.
Around this time, running backs start to fall off a bit. Mixon looks like he is just hitting another gear.
The Texans play the Tennessee Titans next and then the Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins. This was a big-time win over the Dallas Cowboys after suffering two straight losses to both the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions.
