The Houston Texans (3-3) are getting prepared to travel this Sunday to take on the Carolina Panthers (0-6) and the two sides will be making history when the game kicks off.
Week 8's matchup will feature a duel between the top two quarterbacks selected in the 2023 NFL Draft in Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. However, it will be a historical milestone when you factor in the third overall pick in 2023's draft, Will Anderson Jr.
When Sunday's game kicks off, it'll be the first time in the common draft era that the top three overall selections from the most recent NFL Draft will be featured in the same game.
The result makes this matchup even more exciting to watch on Sunday as three of the leagues up-and-coming playmakers will be on the center stage at the same time.
The Stroud vs. Young battle has already brought a ton of national attention to this game considering how the season has played out thus far with Stroud and Young having had two entirely different starts to their NFL careers.
Stroud has continued to set rookie records over the first seven weeks of the season, while Young is still hunting for his ever elusive first NFL win. The debates between the two quarterbacks that surfaced during the draft process have roared back to life louder than ever.
Both teams are having to live with their choices back in April's draft but clearly one side has enjoyed the ride more than the other. However, the mutual respect couldn’t be more stronger between the two quarterbacks who grew up side by side.
"That's my brother," Stroud said leading up to the matchup. "That's somebody I have a lot of respect for. I've known him since like middle school and got really close probably after high school. Always rooting for him and he's always rooting for me."
"That's someone that I'm really close with," Young shared. "He's a really great person and really great human being first and foremost. Just a really great dude, a great family, and then obviously a great player as well who has been doing a lot of great things."
It should be an exciting Week 8 matchup as Stroud looks to go up against the Panthers defense led by Pro Bowl defensive end Brian Burns and Young looks to face off against the Texans young defense led by the team's third overall pick in Anderson.
